Tempting…

New boot style for me, so be patient as I haven’t made a final selection yet. I’m really lusting after these for some reason:

Oh, this is closer (wardrobe planning sw again)

Dress Assistant by Software de Arte

The free trial allows you to upload up to 20 clothing pieces, so I’ll get to that and see which program(s) I like best.

And since that software is so cool and probably way outta my league $$$

…I bring you this instead

Try it!

Polyvore provides an easy way to create outfit images online, like the outfits featured here. This is definitely new to me, and I haven’t had much time to understand much other than it’s free and you can click and drop clothes sets from this gynormous online closet thing they have to create outfits. There’s a snazzy little bookmarklet widget that you can add to your browser (a la kaboodle) to import you own items into the closet!

Here’s a video tour:

This is halfway what I’d hope to get in some paid software (but this is free) except I want to see what looks good on ME and on my body type, etc. Must keep searching…

OMG, I need this software

Been updating my work wardrobe

It’s probably (HONESTLY) been about 4 years since I’ve made a dedicated effort to snazzy up my work wardrobe. I graduated and started work in a client-facing role. Since I knew it would be that way…I went nutso getting ready for my big girl job and bought and bought and bought. Those classy staples (courtesy of BR, AT, and BCBG mostly) have lasted, but it’s just programmed in my DNA to get bored of most things after a while…and I think that the drycleaning abuse has really declared death to some of my first work clothes.

I’m genuinely shocked that I resisted revamping or modernizing my work wardrobe (granted there were a few items added here and there), but I just stuck to the basic trousers, skirts, and cardigans or button-ups since I was usually the only female surrounded by tech gEEks at work. There’s something about sounding like a 16 year old and later being confused for a coworker’s DAUGHTER while trying to climb my way up the corporate ladder that didn’t justify dressing all cutesy. Well that was then, but I’ve decided who cares?!? I’m going to wear these patent mj’s and dvf wraps AND climb that gEEky corporate ladder.

In an effort to reward myself after 2 years of working and torture (aka, my MSEE), I embarked on the new closet journey. First , I’m changing my closet layout. My mom insisted, and she knew I’d cave eventually, that I try Joy Mangano’s Huggable hangers. They’re supposed to arrive sometime next week; I’ll report back on the actual closet space gained by these apparent miracle-working hangers but I’m hopeful.

Exhibit A: (new hangers)

Then I had to get some new clothes to help fill it up (not my closet in the above picture, obviously) ;)
Exhibit B:

So let’s hope that this new work wardrobe does some wonders for me AT work, and soon. I’m impatient and well ya, I have little patience when it comes to wonky work situations (if that doesn’t make sense, it’s not supposed to so you’re a-ok).

My going out has dwindled some (boohoo) in the past few months but we’ll be fixing that soon :P I mean we didn’t get an ice luge tray for nothing! My focus at next week’s sample sale (DSS) will be new going out tops so stay tuned if these stuffy east coast prepster closet digs aren’t your style.

B/c I’m nice like that

Have to admit that I’ve never shopped here before, but why not start with a F&F sale?

Enjoy!

More fugliness, is this for real?

Wish this existed during my tennis years

New to me: Ame & Lulu has some pretty cute (and spendy, doat!) ladies sports specific accessories and totes. If I get into yoga someday, I know where to find a black toile yoga mat bag, so chic!

Because wasting a $100 coupon code just isn’t worth it, thanks mom :)

I thought it was time for something a little different. From the designers of Velvet comes Graham & Spencer, and I’m swooning over this top that will go perfectly with my red engine skinnies!

I’m also calling this my reward for sticking to the exercise and diet (can we say successful weight loss, ya baby!), and for a long long day yesterday that is unfortunately probably a sign of what is it come. I’ll update as appropriate :)

and let’s not accuse me of being a shopaholic…i’ve sent back 2 pairs of jeans and boots that did not make me look like the models :P i also scoped out the bcbg sequin sheath dresses in bcbg this weekend (albeit in teal) and the quality seemed really really shotty, oh well…you win some and you lose some. in this case, my bank is happy that i’m not keeping those either.

i have the charcoal kyumi bib dress waiting for me at home to compare to the black, but that thing is short even for this lil 5′2″ lady. i do feel awesome in it though, we may have to wait until aunt p and cousin j arrive for a final verdict on that one.

Yelp pulls through yet again

I love yelp! Can I please just remind you how wonderful it is to read reviews on restaurants, hotels, stores, movie theaters, etc? If you haven’t yet used the reviews on their website to guide you in a new (to you) city, get on that!

After waking up on Saturday doing my best impression of Cyclops (yup, one eye swollen shut…awesome), and noting it was day 1 of my new not-so-easy-to-understand health insurance, I opted to mind over matter my way out of this and try some retail therapy. While venturing through Gtown and watching Jeremy go nuts over his treasured Ice Luge, a pair of Aviators, and finally a Mario Bros energy drink should have helped my eye swelling…it didn’t :(

Fast forward to some more mind over matter failed retail efforts on Sunday, and you have me scrounging for a new best pedicure recommendation on Monday.

I’ve tried PR downtown, Aveda in Bethesda, Red Door in Chevy Chase, and blah blah blah. I’m very anti-save-your-money-risk-an-infection when it comes to manis/pedis so after each failed $60 pedi at these places, I just gave up and decided that nothing would meet the bar set by Tsume back home.

Until…(here comes yelp to save the day and my eye :P ) I read about Joy’s Spa in Adams Morgan. I had the most relaxing pedi w/ hot stone massage, which was seriously better than the best pedicure plus massage combined I’ve ever had. I’m too type A, on the go, to really enjoy most massages but as I mature (haha) I find that a quality deep tissue massage (especially when efficiently added to a pedicure) is just what a girl should have. In a nutshell, I definitely recommend going for the hot stone massage pedi with Yana! You will have no regrets and feel so amazingly relaxed.

Plus, I’ve now made a note to self…next time I wake up w/ a puffy eye and I opt out of seeing the doctor, I’m just gonna head over to Adams Morgan for my fabulous pedi b/c guess what?–my eye is back to normal, just in time for a case of the Mondays :)
